VLC can read various multimedia type such as mp3, divx, flv, oog, asf, wmv, mpeg-1, mpeg-2, mpeg-4, vob, VCD, DVD, etc… even you can play Google video.
I think VLC is very cool.

hi
thats fine . but now i dont have internet connection on my laptop. how can i install without internet connection
If you are using Ubuntu Gutsy, it comes with 1 CD installer + 5 DVD repository.
If you have the DVDs repository, then you can use it and install through Sypnatic Package Manager.
Hello Guys!
I need help regarding VLC in my computer with Ubuntu 7.1. I don’t have internet and also I don’t understand what “taufanlubis” has stated regarding installation. Can you explain more briefly. I am very new to Linux based OS.
You can install a program in Ubuntu without connect to the internet as long as you have the DVD repository. There are 5 DVDs.
Each DVD has packages of programs. I don’t remember which DVD has VLC.
So, just enter the DVD inside your DVDROM then select Applications>System>Administration>Software Sources>Third Party Software>Add CD ROM.
If you don’t have the DVDs repository, you can contact your Ubuntu Community in your Area.
After that you can follow the steps above.
