Dari menu Utama, click “System > Administration > Software Sources”.
Lalu pada bagian “Download from” pilih ”Main Server”.

Lalu buka linux terminal, update ubuntunya:
$sudo apt-get update
$sudo apt-get upgrade
$sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
$sudo apt-get install build-essential

Nah, di coba lagi sekarang.

bang taufan,
salam kenal sebelumnya,
baru beberapa minggu saya mulai pake linux ubuntu 8.04
agak kagok juga. semula pake win* acr chat,webcam,conf lancar. kemudian pindah haluan ke linux, ko beda. saya tertarik cara abang tapi ko keluar tulisan ini ya bang

Toda fez q eu tento baixar e instaler o amns dá o seguinte erro:

sudo apt-get install amsn
Lendo lista de pacotes… Pronto
Construindo árvore de dependências
Reading state information… Pronto
E: Impossível achar pacote amsn

O q eu posso fazer para instalar o amns no meu ubuntu?????

- First you must have an internet connection.
- Second, set your Repository to Main Server (the easy way). Click System > Administration > Software Sources, Mark all boxes and select ‘Main Server’ at ‘Download from’.
- Third update the system (from Ubuntu terminal, type).
$sudo apt-get update
$sudo apt-get upgrade
$sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

- Now, you are ready to install any programs just what I’ve mentioned above.

For VLC, you can use:
$sudo apt-get install vlc

For yahoo, you can use Pidgin (included in Ubuntu Gutsy and above).

For skype, you can follow my articles about skype.

hi everybody, wish you good day, well I’m a new user to this great thing called Ubuntu but as you know, for the beginner like me will face a lot of problem, in my case i don’t know how to install the msn, yahoo and some other applications so, kindly help me by showing me the shortcut to make this go true ? and secondly i just want to know how to install the windows media player or vlc something like this . thank you for your great time and also for understanding my case, for more informations plz don’t hesitate here you are my email :smart2003man@hotmail.com
