K3B is a burning tool designed for KDE but you still can run it on Gnome. The menu is simple even for a new user. You will know how to use it in a minute. There are so many things that you can do with K3b.
You can:

Copy CD or DVD.

Burn CD or DVD ISO image.
-
Rip audio CD
-
Rip Video DVD
-
Rip Video CD
-
Erase CD-RW
-
Format DVD RW
I think K3B is one of the best CD and DVD burning tools in Linux.
Installation
From Ubuntu Terminal screen (Applications > Accessories > Terminal), type:
taufanlubis@toshiba:~$ sudo apt-get install k3b
Running the program.
From Ubuntu desktop, click Applications > Sound & Video then select K3b.
Below is the main screen of K3b. On the top left is your directories and on top right is your directories content.
The six most use features for burning are available on the main screen.
If you need more features, just click on the ‘Further actions‘ button.

Hi. Well – I think I have the system installed correctly BUT …
4 Questions
1) Can I make VCDs? Don’t have a DVD burner, but with my previous system [ Nero / Windows ] I could and it was quite easy.
2) Is there a way to make a title page for the VCDs once I burn ‘em aka Menu Page?
3) I tried once to burn, failed miserably. Okay – tried time two and it told me it wouldn’t support AVI files. What do I do?
4) I could NOT seem to get it to load from my External Hard Drive [ Free Agent Drive ] Any idea WTF I can do about that

PS – I once had a file conversion program that could change from AVI to MPEG etc. but it crashed when my WINDOWS system died.
