By default, xmms doesn’t provide additional skins. So, you have to download it. It you used Windows and winamp before, the methods is almost the same. Just copy the skins to winamp folder or xmms directory in Linux.

After you download the skin, then copy it to /usr/share/xmms/Skins.

That’s it.

To change the skin, just open xmms application, click on the top corner left button, choose options then Skin Browser. Or, you click on xmms application then type Alt-S to open the skin browser.

Then click ‘Add directory‘, select usr > share > xmms > Skins then click OK.

Now, you have your new xmms skins. Click any name and xmms application’s skin will automatically change.

XMMS is the X Multimedia System. It is used to play audio and other kinds of media files. By default XMMS can play MPEG audio, Ogg Vorbis, RIFF wav, most module formats and a few other formats. XMMS can be extended through plugins to play a number of other audio and video formats.

XMMS’ display is almost the same with Winamp ver. 2.x in Windows. A lot of Linux Distro put xmms as a default package. You can run it through Application > Sound & Video > XMMS or through run command, Alt-F2, then type xmms.
