Linux is based on what you think about it. If you think that it’s difficult to learn then it will be. If you think that it’s easy to learn then why you wait to switch your Operating System to Linux.
If you are a beginner with Linux, you can start with Dual Boot, like what I did before. Step by step, replace your applications with applications in Linux. For example, if you use MS-Word in Win*, you can start replace it with OpenOffice Writer. For tailor made program that you may use in your work (of course you will not find in Linux), you can use Virtual Machine to run it.
For me, I need few months before I totally use 100% Linux in my Laptop. So, just take your time.
You can see at my desktop screen below, what I can do with Linux, especially with Ubuntu Gutsy. The good part is, it’s ALL FREE.
So, why do you still wait for migration?
My desktop with gDesklets Plugin
My Desktop with Avant Window Navigator
My open office Spreadsheet-calc
My open office Word Processor-writer
My Open office Presentation – Impress
My Multimedia – Totem, Sound Juicer, Kaffein, VLC, xmms, Real Player
My email client program – Evolution
My network tools – Etherape, Tcptrack
My Chatting program – Skype, Pidgin, aMSN and xChat

It is a quite interesting post but quite difficult to understand for me -…
Nice touches. I tend to be a software collector and have installed Opera and Epiphany browsers. Epiphany seems faster than Firefox and somewhere in the same territory as Opera.
FF tends to crash when connectivity is interrupted – but it saves content; where Opera tends to ‘freeze’ sometimes and need a forced shutdown, losing settings, etc.
I did a silly and accidentally took screen switching off my desktop while trying to shut down a browser shown onscreen. That led me to Avant : which I find nicer than the standard window manager.
Loaded in Ubuntu 8.10

I tend to collect shots for wallpaper from Flickr – but am rather knocked out by the collection at

I have used Ubuntu since 2006 and I think there is no way back. It runs on my 10 years old desktop smoothly without problems.
