The current version of free Virtual Box still doesn’t give a support for access your USB. But you can make a trick. Just use the ‘Shared Folder’ to mount your USB to your VirtualBox.
So, you can access the USB from both your Ubuntu and your other OS in the VirtualBox at the same time.
Step 1. Mount your USB to Virtual Box ‘Shared Folder’
Step 2. Access the USB drive from your Virtual Box

mas, numpang nanya donk.. saya pake os vista dan install virtualbox 1.4 dg guest windows xp2. tau ga caranya biar guestnya bisa detect usb? tenkyuuu..

Mas, pake Virtual Box versi Berapa?
Setahu saya, kita g bisa ngakses itu karena masalah permission. Saya pernah pake root, run virtual box, gan semua USB yang ada bisa langsung kepake. Masalahnya, abiz itu permissionnya jadi milik root, jadi saya g bisa lagi pake Virtual Box pake user biasa.
Kalo g salah d helpnya itu harus ada R/W permission pada “usbfs”nya.
Masalhanya di Fedora itu no such thing.

Pretty nifty, but how do you sync it with your real live USB drive? Does it work with SanDisk’s secure USB flash drives?
