Real Player 11 for Linux is the latest version released for Linux. It comes with some new features. One of it is 5.1 surround sound. Real player claim that it has better sound compare to the last version.
The installation is still the same with the old one.
Just download directly from the website: www.real.com/linux.
Save to your hard disk.
Open your Linux Terminal (Applications>Accessories>Terminal).
Go your download directory. It will depend on your browser setup. My download directory default is ‘new download‘.
So, I go inside. Check the RealPlayer installation file.
Change the access privilege using ‘chmod’.
Type $sudo ./RealPlayer11GOLD.bin to install the program and press ENTER to continue.
Set the RealPlayer directory. I set /opt/real/RealPlayer.
Press ‘F’ to start the installation process.
Installation is completed.
Open Applications>Sound&Video>RealPlayer 11.
It’s first installation screen, just click ‘Next’ button to continue.
Click ‘Next’ button.
Click ‘Next’ button.
If you have an internet connection, then you can click ‘Next’ button or ‘Skip’ if you don’t have it.
If you have an internet connection you can click ‘Perform Test’ button.
Checking connection speed.
Installation is finished.
Real Player11GOLD is ready to use.

i want to congratulate to them to give the better supportive
setup configuration demo ,it took some minutes to understand
and easily install Real Player,and now it is user understandable process to install ,
and i want to give the regard to Real Player support for linux easily and good features and ubuntu
it is amazing os comparing running os in this scenario but
Real Player down load option should come upper side of you tube video it is the some draw back
but installing process and ubuntu support and Real Player support team have good package overall ,

You have to give the Root password.
Still when I want to play a stresaming media site, I get the dialog that says “can’t find realplay in system path”
I would think this would get updated after installation.
should I create a symbolic link?

Thanks for the info but i think i’ve done it wrong and need some help.
I installed it ok but went to run it and i get an error message saying”Failed to execute child process “realplay” (No such file or directory)”
i tried to reinstall it but coudn’t.
i am new to linux so any help would be good.

How can i play the .avi & other extension files in linux suse OS, previously i’ll use real player 10.0.9.809 version, now i downloaded the real player 11 version. but it doesnt work now itself.. pls help me in this case

Hi… For avi you can use VLC. Most of multimedia types, you can play with it. Such as: asf, gvi, mpe, mpeg, mov, mpg, wmv, mp4, vob and avi. For music, mp3, I suggest to use banshee or xmms.

Hi, I`m new to linux and I want to install this program, but when I type in the terminal ls -l RealPlayer11GOLD.bin I get and error message saing there is no such file or directory, I have the file in my desktop and in the terminal it says jose@jose-desktop:~~$ which is my name. Can someone help me, do I need to configure somthing before, any repository or anything?
place the RealPlayer11GOLD.bin file on your folder. Then execute the command. Or cd to the .bin file folder and then you execute the command.
I jus got a PS3 an I´ll instal linux my question is can I install Real player 11 Goldin my PS3 with this tutorial thanks a lot
This tutorial is for Linux Ubuntu. As long as Ubuntu can run on PS3, I think the Real Player can be installed using this method.
