Evolution is one most the complete features email client program that available in Linux. It has Contacts, Calendars, Memos and Tasks. You can storing, organizing and retrieving your personal data easily. I’ve used few email clients in Linux and Win*, and I think it’s one of the best.
BACK UP DATA
If you work based on informations, back up data is the most important think that you have to do frequently. Evolution has a very simple steps to do it.
Step 1. Open File > Backup settings
If you’ve opened your Evolution already, go to ‘Open‘ menu and choose ‘Backup settings‘.
Step 2. Set back up directory
This is the directory where you save your back up data.
Step 3. Close all your unsaved works.
Evolution backup can not start if the evolution program is still running. Closing process will be automatically run when you click ‘Yes’ button. I suggest to save all your works first.
If you still working with your Evolution, don’t forget to mark on ‘Restart Evolution after backup’. Your Evolution will re-run after backup process is done.
Backing up process is running.
RESTORE DATA
Restore data is as easy as your back up data process.
Step 1. Open Restore menu
Goto ‘File’ and click ‘Restore Settings’.
Step 2. Select your back up data file.
Choose your back up data file and click ‘Open’ button.
Restore data is running.
Done.
Thanks so much. This was very helpful.

Hi,
I am in the process of moving from ubuntu based desktop clients to windows and I have backed up all my users evolution settings using the method you describe here. That part works fine. But how do I restore the .tar backups to the windowd evolution mail client? Is there a way, if there was this would be fantastic.
